Abstract

The audiences’ reaction to Peter Jackson’s films in the RF and the USA are compared within the International World Hobbit Project database. Quali-quantitative analysis of the answers concerning type of the films and the role of Fantasy is supplemented by cultural scrutiny of the manner of viewers’ involvement with the book and the films, specified through the content analysis on the basis of a multifaceted codification of personal and social aspects of interaction with the movies.
