Abstract
Richard Milhous Nixon, the 37th President of the United States, a person and a politician can’t be defined and assessed directly and unambiguously. On the one hand, he appears as «a political genius», who managed to repeatedly return to the heights of state power from real oblivion. On the other hand, he is a person who inflicted considerable damage to American concept of democracy and political culture. This article analyzes the book by Evan Thomas which is called «Being Nixon: a Man Divided», which is dedicated to the fortieth anniversary of the resignation of US president as a result of Watergate scandal. This is sort of a political portrait of a man, who had a huge impact on the political life in the United States and international situation as a whole in the post-war period.
