Abstract
The end of the Cold War between USA and USSR in late 1980s and early 1990s was followed by a sequence of profound changes in the international system: collapse of the world Socialist community, disintegration of the USSR itself, advent of the monocentric world, changes in the status of China, India, and other developing nations. All these events had an impact on the Russian - US relations. As a result rather a multi-colour picture of relations between Moscow and Washington has emerged.
