Abstract
The author describes American exceptionalism which derives from messianic religious perception and analyzes the political consequences of religious «awakening» in the USA since 1970s. The influence of «Religious Right» was particularly significant in the period of R. Reagan and G.W. Bush, and nowadays the Obama administration faces the growing moral opposition of Conservative Protestants and Republican Party.
