Abstract
The review is an analysis of the main ideas and arguments of the book, written by Professor D.M. Bondarenko (Institute for African Studies RAS), which is devoted to the study of the mutual perceptions and relations between African Americans and African migrants in the USA from the point of view of a social anthropologist. The value of the work lies in the fact that this is the only book of few on this topic, writ ten not by an African and not by an African-American, but by a Russian researcher of this topic that is little studied even in the West. Views of American and African experts on the problems of interaction between African migrants and African- Americans in the United States are also presented. The analysis of the origins of these problems, their features and prospects for solution is given. This allows the reader to form an opinion on how the relations of the two black communities influ ence the formation of a modern multicultural and multiracial American society with all its contradictions.
