Abstract
Nowadays investigative journalists in the U.S. prefer to work in the online media increasingly. Indeed, now the Internet sites have become the most optimal solution for journalists who spend a lot of time writing analytical materials. In addition, the possibilities of the Network have allowed improving work in the field of investigative journalism: to make it easier, faster and more exciting. As features of the investigative journalist's work can be identified activity in social networks, fact checking (checking facts) and creating visual images of their online publications. All these elements are important in attracting the audience to a particular investigation. Thanks to social networks, it is possible to attract the attention of online communities to the described problem; a qualitative fact checking allows achieve audience trust and strengthening the reputation of the media, and visualization of data (infographic, audio and video recordings) helps to present complex and extensive information in attractive form. This article explores in detail the opportunities of investigative journalist to work in social networks, presents possible options for verifying the facts in modern American media, and describes the use of visual elements to make colorful and interesting publication.
