Аннотация
В статье рассматривается позиция США в отношении Конвенции ООН по морскому праву 1982 г., начиная с отказа администрации Рейгана подписать её и кончая самой последней ( 2012 г.) попыткой получить согласие Сената на её ратификацию. По мнению автора, несмотря на официально заявляемую руководством США поддержку Конвенции, оно фактически окончательно не осознало необходимость Конвенции для США
